- Paste your article into the box. Plain text, Markdown and HTML all work.
- Click Check citation readiness.
- Read the score and the result for each of the 7 checks.
- Follow the tips under each check, edit the article and run it again.
What Does the Checker Look For?
- Clear direct answer near the top: the opening paragraph answers the main question in about 15 to 70 words.
- Question-style headings: subheadings are phrased as questions readers ask.
- Short paragraphs: most paragraphs make one point in 70 words or fewer.
- Lists: steps and key points sit in bulleted or numbered lists.
- Stats with sources: figures are given and the source is named or linked.
- FAQ section: the page has a set of questions with short answers.
- Author and date signals: a byline and a published or updated date are visible.
Why Does Article Structure Matter for AI Search?
AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews build answers from pages they can read and quote easily. Clear answers, question headings, lists and named sources make a passage easier to lift out and trust. The checker scores these habits, but it cannot promise citations.
Frequently asked questions
What does this tool check?
It scores your article on 7 points: a direct answer near the top, question headings, short paragraphs, lists, stats with sources, an FAQ section, and author and date signals.
Will a high score get my page cited by ChatGPT or Perplexity?
No. No tool can promise citations. The score shows how closely your article follows common good practice for clear, quotable content.
What format should I paste?
Plain text, Markdown or HTML. In plain text, start a heading line with # so the tool can tell it from a paragraph.
Why is my author or date not detected?
The tool looks for a line such as “By Jane Smith” and a phrase such as “Last updated: 12 May 2026”. Add them in that style near the top of the article.
Is this tool free and does it store my article?
Yes, it is free with no account needed. The check runs in your browser and your article is never sent to our server.
